3、s for identification of nominal capacities andunits of sub-division.1.2 This specification applies to one-mark and graduatedpipets of the nominal capacities listed in Table 1 and Table 2,respectively.NOTE1Many pipets not covered by other ASTM standards areincluded in Table 1 and Table 2,in order,fir

7、ragement of colorcoding if this is not required.4.Color Properties4.1 CodingThe color coding used on one-mark pipetsshall be in accordance with Table 1,and graduated pipets shallbe in accordance with Table 2.4.2 VariationsVariations in the enamels used in the meth-ods of application appropriate for
8、pipets made from differenttypes of glass inevitably result in minor variations of color,andit is therefore not appropriate to specify closely the sevencolors listed in the tables.5.Marking Requirements5.1 The color code shall take the form of color bandsextending at least 150 around the circumferenc
9、e of the pipetand situated not more than 70 mm from the top of the pipet andnot less than 20 mm above the nearest graduation line.5.2 For a code consisting of a single band of color,the bandshall be 5 to 10 mm wide.For a code consisting of two bandsof color,each band shall be 3 to 5 mm wide and the
10、two bandsshall be separated by a space of 2 to 3 mm.Color bands do nothave to be continuous but may be broken as long as they cover40%of the circumference of the pipet.NOTE2Pipets calibrated to deliver by blowing out the last drop shallbe identified by a wide band or two narrow bands permanently mar
