2、tion indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision,the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon(e)indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This fire-test-response standard determ

3、ines fire proper-ties related to piloted ignition of a vertically oriented specimenexposed to an external graduated radiant heat flux as shown inFig.1.This test method provides data suitable for comparingthe performance of materials,which are used as the exposedsurfaces of walls or other vertically

4、orientated products inconstruction applications.NOTE1This test method has been prepared to closely follow the testprocedure of ISO 5658-4,however with additional provisions for heatrelease and smoke development measurements that are optional.1.2 The fire characteristics determined by this test metho

5、dinclude time-to-ignition,vertical flame spread rate and lateralflame spread rate.Optional measurements include heat releaserates and visible smoke development rates.1.3 The optional heat release rate is determined by theprinciple of oxygen consumption calorimetry,via measurementof the oxygen consum

6、ption as determined by the oxygenconcentration and flow rate in the exhaust product stream(exhaust duct).1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.1.5 This standard is used to measure and describe theresponse of materials,products,or assemblies to heat andflame under contro

7、lled conditions,but does not by itselfincorporate all factors required for fire hazard or fire riskassessment of the materials,products,or assemblies underactual fire conditions.1.6 Fire testing of products and materials is inherentlyhazardous,and adequate safeguards for personnel and prop-erty shal

8、l be employed in conducting these tests.This testmethod may involve hazardous materials,operations,andequipment.Specific information about hazard is given inSection 7.1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the

12、 of less than 1 s.3.2.3 irradiance,nquotient of the radiant flux incident onan infinitesimal element of surface containing the point,by thearea of that element.3.2.4 product,nmaterial,composite or assembly aboutwhich information is required.3.2.5 specimen,nrepresentative piece of the productwhich is
