6、bymanual flexing of the specimen.5.Significance and Use5.1 This test method is intended for use on all types offinished leathers.5.2 Finish stability is a significant factor in establishing theapplication and function of leather.6.Apparatus6.1 Forced Circulating Air Oven,capable of maintaining atemp
7、erature of 55 to 60C with a thermo regulator systemcapable of holding oven temperature within 62C of set point.A thermometer accurate to 62C should be used to check andmonitor the oven set point.6.2 Steel Stamp Die,10+2 cm2.7.Sampling,Test Specimens,and Test Units7.1 Primary Sampling UnitThe leather
8、 shall be sampledin accordance with Practice D2813.7.2 Suggested sample size is 10 cm2.NOTE1If necessary,small size may be used.Sample size used shouldbe included in the report.8.Preparation of Apparatus8.1 Preheat the oven(6.1)to the desired temperature.9.Conditioning9.1 Prior to cutting the specim
9、ens,condition the leather inaccordance with Practice D1610.10.Procedure10.1 Place the specimen to be tested in the circulating airoven maintained at a temperature of 55 to 60C,hanging it sothat complete circulation of the air around the specimen ispossible.Expose the specimen in this manner for 24 6
10、14h andthen allow it to cool.After cooling,double the aged leatherover with the grain side in,crease the folded edge by handslightly,and rub the finish grain surface together.Examine thegrain surface for cracks,parting of the finish from the leather,and tackiness.11.Report11.1 The presence of cracks
