8、 upstream of a water use end point,such as ashower,faucet,or ice machine,for the purpose of removingcontaminants from the water before the water enters the wateruse end point.3.2.2 terminal point-of-use water filter,ndevice installedat the point where water exits a water use end point,such as ashowe

9、r or faucet,for the purpose of removing contaminantsfrom the water before the water exits the water use end point.4.Summary of Practice4.1 This protocol has two parts,PartA,described in 7.1 andPart B,described in 7.2.Two variations of this protocol may beimplemented:Part A(alone)or both Part A and P

10、art B.Whenboth Part A and Part B are implemented:for each filter tested,Part A shall be implemented first followed by Part B.For bothParts A and B,cycles shall be run consecutively and continu-ously.Up to 72 h pause is acceptable between cycle sets.4.2 Part A is a series of cycles that alternate the

11、 flow of coldand hot water.A set of ten hot water-cold water flow pairsunder Part A conditions shall be considered the equivalent ofone filter-use day.Part B is a series of cycles that alternate theflow of cold and hot water.A set of two hot water-cold waterflow pairs under Part B conditions shall b

12、e considered theequivalent of one filter-use day.Test requirements for Parts Aand B shall be the same except where specifically provided.4.3 When only Part A is implemented and compliance withthis practice is referenced by the vendor of the terminalpoint-of-use water filter(“device”)tested,the refer

13、ence shallstate:“This device has been tested under Part A of ASTMPractice D8422,which includes testing only to water tempera-tures up to 125F(51.7C);it has not been tested under Part Bof ASTM Practice D8422,which includes testing to watertemperatures greater than 125F(51.7C).This device shouldnot be
