6、 and Properties3.1 Dry PigmentThe pigment shall be free of adulterantsand shall contain not more than traces of impurities incident towell-controlled manufacture of high-grade basic carbonatewhite lead.The pigment shall conform to the followingrequirements:Lead carbonate,%62 to 75Moisture and other

9、ining Volatile ThinnerThe semipasteshall be made by thoroughly grinding the specified pigmentwith a mixture of linseed oil and a small amount of volatilethinner.The semipaste shall not be caked in the container andshall be readily stirred to a uniform mixture which shall mixreadily with oil,turpenti
10、ne,or volatile petroleum spirits to forma smooth paint of brushing consistency.The odor of thesemipaste,as taken from the container,while drying or afterdrying,shall be not abnormally pungent or disagreeable.Thesemipaste shall conform to the following requirements:Pigment,min,%87.5Linseed oil,max,%1
