6、Hydrogen ion concentration(pH value)4.5 to 8.0ATotal hydrated oxide of iron shall be the sum of iron oxide and loss on ignition.Loss on ignition shall be calculated on the dry material.3.2 Paste in OilThe paste in oil shall be made bythoroughly grinding the specified pigment with linseed oil(with or
7、 without a small amount of volatile thinner)togetherwith(where necessary)small amounts of wetting or dispersingagents to a semipaste or fluid type consistency.As received,itshall not be caked in the container and shall break up readily inoil to form a smooth paint of brushing consistency.It shall mi

11、lot,batch,days pack,or other unit ofproduction in a shipment.When no markings distinguishingbetween units of production appear,samples shall be takenfrom different packages in the ratio of two samples for each4540 kg or 10 000 lb,except that for shipments of less than10 000 lb,two samples shall be t
12、aken.At the option of thepurchaser,the samples may be tested separately or afterblending in equal quantities the samples from the sameproduction unit to form a composite sample.5.Test Methods5.1 GeneralTests shall be conducted in accordance withthe appropriate ASTM test methods.Test procedures notco
