8、ns of other textile terms refer to Termi-nology D 123.4.Summary of Test Method4.1 A specimen of batting,either manufactured or from anend use product,is dyed with a dye that subjectively stains theresin binder.The stained specimen is examined for binderdistribution on the batting surface and binder
9、penetrationthrough the batting by comparison to photographic ratingstandards.5.Significance and Use5.1 This test method is used in the trade for acceptancetesting of commercial shipments.5.1.1 In case of a dispute arising from differences inreported test results when using this test method,the purch
10、aserand the supplier should conduct comparative tests to determineif there is a statistical bias between their laboratories.Compe-tent statistical assistance is recommended for the investigationof bias.As a minimum,the two parties should take a group oftest samples that are as homogeneous as possibl
11、e and are froma material lot of the type in question.The test samples shouldthen be randomly assigned in equal numbers to each laboratoryfor testing.The average results from the two laboratoriesshould be compared using a statistical test for unpaired dataand an acceptable probability level chosen by
12、 the two partiesbefore the testing is begun.If a bias is found,either its causemust be found and corrected or the purchaser and the suppliermust agree to interpret future test results with consideration ofthe known bias.5.2 This test method is used to assess the distribution ofresin binder applicati
