3、d,jet-fuel-resistant concrete joint sealant,resistant to weathering,for use in sealing joints and cracks inPortland cement concrete highway and airfield pavements incritical areas subject to jet fuel spillage.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated w

6、 and Portland CementConcrete Pavements3.General Requirements3.1 The joint sealant,when in place,shall form a resilientand cohesive compound that is resistant to weathering,andshall effectively seal joints in concrete throughout repeatedcycles of thermal expansion and contraction,and against theinfil

7、tration of moisture,jet-fuel and incompressibles.It shallnot flow from the joint or be picked up by vehicle tires.Thejoint sealant,before placement,shall be stable at the safeheating temperature for up to 6 h.The poured joints shall befree of internal voids due to placement or that developsubsequent

8、ly in service.4.Physical Requirements4.1 Safe Heating TemperatureThe highest temperature towhich the sealing compound can be heated and still conform toall the requirements specified herein.For the purposes oftesting as specified hereafter,the pouring temperature forspecimen preparation shall be the

9、 safe heating temperature,asrecommended by the sealant manufacturer.The safe heatingtemperature shall be shown on all containers and shall beprovided to the testing agency before any laboratory tests arebegun.The safe heating temperature shall be a minimum of20F(11C)higher than the manufacturers rec

10、ommendedapplication temperature.(See Appendix X1).4.2 Cone Penetration,NonimmersedAt 77 6 0.2F(25 60.1C),150 g,for 5 s,shall not exceed 130 units.4.3 Cone Penetration,Fuel-ImmersedThe penetrationshall not exceed that of the nonimmersed penetration.4.4 FlowThere shall be no flow after 72 h at 158 6 2

11、F(70 6 1C).4.5 BondThe sealant shall be tested at 0 6 2F(17.8 61.1C)for three complete cycles of 50%extension each.Allthree specimens shall meet the following requirements forbond:4.5.1 Nonimmersed No specimen shall develop anycrack,separation,or other opening in the sealing compound orbetween the s

12、ealing compound and the concrete blocks.4.5.2 Water-Immersed No specimen shall develop anycrack,separation,or other opening in the sealing compound orbetween the sealing compound and the concrete blocks.4.5.3 Fuel-Immersed No specimen shall develop anycrack,separation,or other opening in the sealing
