2、t revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers a thermoplastic insulationwhich consists substantially of polyethylene.1.2 This type of insulation

3、is considered suitable for use onwire or cable that will be used for continuous operation atconductor temperatures up to 75 C with a maximum conduc-tor size of 1000 kcmil(507 mm2).The maximum voltage ratingshall not exceed 35 000 V for power application or 9 000 V forseries lighting.1.3 In many inst

4、ances the insulation material cannot betested unless it has been formed around a conductor.Therefore,tests done on insulated wire or cable in this specification aresolely to determine the relevant property of the insulationmaterial and not to test the insulated conductor or completedcable.1.4 Whenev

5、er two sets of values are stated,in differentunits,the values in the first set are regarded as standard,whilethe values in parentheses are provided for information only andare not considered standard.1.5 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with internationally recognized princip

10、designed and installed for safe operation.4.1.2 Solidly ground all electrically conductive parts whichit is possible for a person to contact during the test.4.1.3 Provide means for use at the completion of any test toground any parts which were at high voltage during the test orhave the potential fo

11、r acquiring an induced charge during thetest or retaining a charge even after disconnection of thevoltage source.4.1.4 Thoroughly instruct all operators as to the correctprocedures for performing tests safely.4.1.5 When making high voltage tests,particularly in com-pressed gas or in oil,it is possib

12、le for the energy released atbreakdown to be sufficient to result in fire,explosion,orrupture of the test chamber.Design test equipment,testchambers,and test specimens so as to minimize the possibilityof such occurrences and to eliminate the possibility of personalinjury.If the potential for fire ex
