3、s prepared jointly by the American Society for Testing and Materials and the Society of the Plastics Industry.1.Scope1.1 This specification covers flexible cellular products con-taining interconnecting cells made of a base material known aspoly(vinyl chloride)or copolymers thereof.1.2 It is intended

4、 as a general specification and may need tobe supplemented by detailed specifications or methods of testfor a particular product,in which case the latter would takeprecedence.Reference to methods for testing poly(vinyl chlo-ride)foam products should specifically state the particular testor tests des

9、etween 18 and 29C.3.6 cellular materiala generic term for materials contain-ing many cells(either open,closed,or both)dispersed through-out the mass.4.Classification4.1 Grades of vinyl foam are designated by letters thatidentify the kind of vinyl foam as follows:4.1.1 VCVinyl foam,cored,4.1.2 VUViny

10、l foam,uncored,and4.1.3 VOVinyl foam,uncored,extra firm.4.2 Digits following the letters indicate the degree offirmness,the softer grades being identified with the lowernumbers and the firmer grades with the higher numbers(seeTable 1).4.3 Suffx Letters may be added singly or in combinationafter any

13、facturer.5.Manufacture5.1 Foam may be produced in sheet,strip,molded,orspecific shapes.The foam articles may be solid or cored.Size,shape,and distribution of cores,if any,shall be at the option ofthe manufacturer,subject to the approval of the purchaser.6.Material and Workmanship6.1 Vinyl foam shall
