7、(1)1 mL 5 1 cm33.2 Bath,made of metal and having sufficient capacity topermit immersion of the distilling flask to a depth of not lessthan 4 in.(101.6 mm).3.3 Source of Heatfor the bath,such as a gas burner,electric hot plate,or the equivalent.An electric mantle typeheater,equipped with a variable r
8、esistance transformer ofsuitable size and heat capacity,is a suitable replacement for thebath and heat source.3.4 Distilling Flask,1000-cm3,heat-resistant glass,with ashort ring neck and round bottom.It shall be fitted with athree-hole rubber stopper,a steam delivery tube that will reachto within386
9、18in.(9.5 6 4.7 mm)of the bottom of the flaskand project from the top to a convenient distance forconnection to the generator,a vapor outlet tube extending frombeneath the rubber stopper to a point sufficiently above thedistilling flask to permit convenient connection to thecondenser,and a thermomet
10、er.The steam tubing shall be notless than 2 nor more than 4 mm in internal diameter,and thevapor outlet tube shall be not less than 5 mm in internaldiameter.3.5 Thermometer,ASTM Low Distillation,having a rangeof 2 to+300C(30 to 580F),as specified,and conformingto the requirements for thermometer 7C
