3、or appli-cation on any metal sash for back bedding and face glazing forexterior or interior exposure.This specification does not applyto materials for use in channel or stop glazing.1.2 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest method described in this specification.This standard

4、doesnot purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any,associated with its use.It is the responsibility of the user of thisstandard to establish appropriate safety and health practicesand determine the applicability of regulatory limitations priorto use.1.3 The committee with jurisdiction over

7、finitionsRefer to Terminology C 717 for definitionsof the following terms:adhesive failure(loss of adhesion),bedding,compound,cured,face glazing.4.Manufacture4.1 The manufacturing process shall ensure a homogeneousmix,free of defects that will affect serviceability,and of aconsistency suitable for a

8、pplication by hand or hand tool,without special preparation.5.Requirements5.1 CompositionThe glazing compound shall consist ofuniform mixtures of pigments,homogeneously mixed in suit-able oils or resinous vehicles,or both.The pigment shall befree of refractory particles larger than 50-mesh fine,othe

9、r thanasbestos fibers;shall be free of lumps;and shall have thestructural and physical characteristics necessary to provide thespecified physical properties(see 7.5).5.2 Working PropertiesThe glazing compound after thor-ough working in the hands shall have a smooth and uniformquality;shall work read

10、ily and smoothly under a knife,withoutcrumbling or cracking;and after being molded into place,shallhold its shape until set.5.3 ColorUnless otherwise specified,the color shall be inthe range of the commercial natural and gray shades of glazingcompounds.Tinting or coloring pigments,if used,shall be o

11、fsuch quality and color to match a sample mutually agreed uponby purchaser and seller.5.4 Degree of Set of Cured Compound The compoundshall show a minimum penetration of 20 and a maximumpenetration of 120 tenths of a millimetre.5.5 Accelerated Weathering Tests:5.5.1 Surface Cracking and PeelingThe c

12、ompound shallshow no surface cracking or peeling greater than illustrated byNo.5 of Fig.1.5.5.2 Deep-Bead CrackingThe compound shall show nodeep-bead cracking greater than illustrated by No.5 of Fig.2.5.5.3 Loss of AdhesionThe compound shall show no lossof adhesion greater than illustrated by Nos.4

13、and 5 of Fig.3.NOTE1Some slight degree of loss of adhesion is permissible in thetest specimen due to the difficulty in the preparation of the specimen.Thiscondition would not be encountered when glazing compound is appliedunder field conditions,such as a full sash,rather than a single Muntin Bar.5.5
