4、ic,as As2O5,%25Dinitrophenol,A%16_AAn equal amount of sodium pentachlorophenate may be used in place ofdinitrophenol provided the pH of the treating solution is in excess of 7.0.3.2 The analytical composition of the active ingredients inthe solid preservative or treating solution shall be between th
5、efollowing limits:minmaxFluoride,as F,%2024Hexavalent chromium,as CrO3,%3341Arsenic,as As2O5,%2228Dinitrophenol,%14183.3 The solid preservative or treating solution shall be madeup of water-soluble compounds selected from the followinggroups,each in excess of 95%purity on an anhydrous basis:Fluoride
6、sfor example,sodium or potassium fluorideHexavalent chromiumfor example,sodium or potassium chromate or dichro-matePentavalent arsenicfor example,sodium arsenateDinitrophenoldinitrophenol3.4 Sodium or potassium hydroxide may be used to adjustthe pH,and a solution of the preservative shall be essenti
7、allyfree of insoluble matter.The commercial preservative shall belabeled as to its total content of active ingredients listed in 3.1.3.5 The pH of a treating solution shall be not less than 5.5nor more than 7.8.These pH values are preferably measured atan oxide concentration in the treating solution
8、 of 15 to 22 g/Land at a temperature of 20 to 30C.If a treating solution has apH outside the stated limits,and that after adjusting the pH,itconforms to the specified limits,the solution shall be consid-ered to conform to the standard.3.6 The material shall be analyzed in accordance withMethods D 10
