7、acture3.1 Raw materials shall be of such quality and purity thatthe finished product will have the properties and characteristicsprescribed in this specification.3.2 The material shall be finished by such operations(coldworking,annealing,turning,grinding,pickling)as are requiredto produce the prescr
8、ibed properties.4.Chemical Composition4.1 Material produced under the specification shall meet therequirements for chemical composition prescribed in Table 1.5.Mechanical and Electrical Requirements5.1 The contract or order may specify ultimate tensilestrength,elongation,microhardness(Knoop or Vicke
9、rs),hard-ness(Rockwell or Rockwell Superficial),or a combination ofthese mechanical properties as temper criterion.If the contractor order does not specify a temper criterion,then the criterionfor temper designation will be ultimate tensile strength andelongation.5.1.1 Knoop hardness indentations sh
10、all be made so that thelong axis of the indenter is parallel to the rolling or drawingdirection of the material.5.2 Mechanical and electrical properties shall conform tothe requirements of Table 2 and Table 3.5.3 All test specimens shall be the supplied size whenpractical.5.4 All tests are to be con
11、ducted at room temperature(65 to80F)(18 to 27C).6.General Requirements6.1 Specification B476 shall apply to all materials producedto this specification.7.Inspection and Testing7.1 Material furnished under this specification shall beinspected by the manufacturer as follows:7.1.1 Visual inspection of
12、10,7.1.2 Temper test(hardness or tensile),7.1.3 Dimensional tests,and7.1.4 Spectrographic or chemical analysis when indicatedby the purchase order.7.2 The purchaser shall perform such tests as are required toverify the quality of material procured under this specification.1This specification is unde
