7、installed in accordance with thispractice shall be composed entirely of AAC material conform-ing to Specification C1693.The units themselves shall conformto Specification C1693.5.Significance and Use5.1 This practice is intended to regulate the installation ofreinforced AAC units and to provide test
8、 methods for deter-mining their transverse load-displacement characteristics andload-carrying capacities.6.Shipping and Handling of Reinforced AAC ReinforcedElement6.1 Reinforced AAC elements shall be protected fromdamage during shipping by placement on pallets or othersupports,banding of the elemen
9、ts,placement of materialbetween the elements,or any other method deemed appropriateby the AAC manufacturer.Reinforced AAC elements shouldbe handled using lifting devices or clamps recommended bythe AAC manufacturer.7.Repair of Reinforced Elements7.1 Damage from handling or shipping of reinforced AAC
10、elements shall be repaired using specialAAC repair mortars.Ifthe damage is severe,theAAC manufacturer shall be consultedas to the structural integrity of the element.Damage that resultsin exposure of the reinforced element shall be repaired onlyafter the exposed steel is coated with a corrosion-resi
11、stantcoating as recommended by the AAC manufacturer.8.Field Cutting of Reinforced Elements8.1 Do not field-cut reinforced elements unless approved bythe project engineer and performed in accordance with theAAC manufacturers recommendations.9.Rejection9.1 If,upon delivery,an individual element fails
12、to conformto this practice,the manufacturer shall be permitted to repairthe element to satisfy the specification,or to replace theelement.10.Expense of Tests10.1 Except as specified in Section 9,and unless otherwiseagreed,the expense of inspection and testing shall be theresponsibility of the purcha
