16、supplied under this specification shall conformto the applicable requirements of Specification A 450/A 450Munless otherwise specified herein.5.Manufacture5.1 MeltingThe steel shall be made by a double-vacuummelting process.Unless an alternative melting process hasbeen approved in writing by the purchaser,the process shallconsist of a vacuum induction melt followed by a consumableelectrode vacuum-arc remelt.Additions of rare earths duringmelting are prohibited unless approved by the purchaser.5.2
