3、abel information for chemicalprotective clothing.1.Scope1.1 This practice covers the informational content of labelsin or on chemical protective clothing.1.2 This practice details the recommended format andminimal content of the information to be included on the labelsused for chemical protective cl

4、othing.1.3 Protective clothing is defined as any single item orcombination of items used for the purpose of isolating parts ofthe body from direct contact with a potential hazard.It does notinclude individual parts of a protective clothing item designedto be worn as part of another item(for example,

5、a faceshield orlens)unless it may be worn independently of the other itemsand still be used in a protective manner.For example,a gloveor boot unless permanently attached would be considered aprotective clothing item requiring labeling,while a visor orvent valve would not.In summary,the intent of thi

6、s practice isto only require labeling of parts of an ensemble that can beused independently for the protection of the user.1.4 This practice does not cover user information providedby means other than item labeling such as instructions,informational packets,brochures,or other written means.1.5 This

7、practice excludes those items covered under 16CFR 303 unless specifically designed for use as chemicalprotective clothing.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-pri

9、ber Products Identification Act33.Significance and Use3.1 GeneralThis practice contains the recommendationsfor minimal informational requirements for the identification ofchemical protective clothing items.It is intended to provide theuser with some of the basic information necessary for theproper s

10、election and use of the chemical protective clothingwhen comparing resistance data derived from ASTM perfor-mance testing.4.Minimal Informational Requirements4.1 The minimum informational requirements for labelingof chemical protective clothing include an identification of theitem,the manufacturers

11、or distributors name,base composi-tion information(material of construction),and size.4.2 The following details the minimum requirements:4.2.1 IdentificationThe name or trade name,or otherdescriptions for the item(such as catalog number,etc.).4.2.2 Manufacturers or Distributors NameThe name ofthe ma

12、nufacturer or distributor of the item.4.2.3 Base Composition and SizeThe barrier compositionof the garment or item(it is suggested that the generic orcommon terms for base composition be provided)and manu-facturers size designation.If of multilayered construction,thelargest percentage of barrier com
