、Designation:D714311Standard Practice forEmission Cells for the Determination of Volatile OrganicEmissions from Indoor Materials/Products1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D7143;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of
、 revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.INTRODUCTIONThis practice complements Guide D5116 and Practice D6670.1.Scope1.1 This practice is intended for de
、termining volatile or-ganic compound(VOC)emissions from materials and productsusing emission cells. It can be applied in principle to mostconstruction materials and many products used indoors.Ob-jectives include:1.1.1 To provide manufacturers, builders, and end userswith emission data useful for evalua
、ting the impact of buildingproducts, new or old,on indoor air concentrations in a modelroom.1.1.2 To promote the development of products with lowerVOC emissions.1.2 This practice is for identifying emitted VOCs and fordetermining the area specific emission rate of VOCs fromnewly produced building pro

、ethods for the determina-tion of VOCs are described in Practice D6196.Alternativesampling and analytical approaches for formaldehyde andother carbonyls are described in Test Method D5197.NOTE1All volatile(vapor-phase)carbonyls except formaldehyde canbe analyzed by either Practice D6196 or by Test Me
