7、y.4.Summary of Practice4.1 This practice is for a comparison of shear strength and90 degree peel strength performance between a standard duckcloth material versus a specific carpet backing.Performancetesting occurs after an applied test adhesive has been exposedto standard conditions ambient air for
8、 various open timeperiods.It should be noted that the use of duck cloth isnecessary since there is no bench mark or standardized carpetbacking currently produced in the United States.5.Significance and Use5.1 Selection of or development of a carpet adhesive,fordirect glue or adhered applications req
9、uires knowledge of theadhesives ability to perform adequately when it is foundnecessary to correct an installation concern,such as bubbles orwrinkles,by re-rolling or application of dead weight to theaffected area without the application or injection of additionaladhesive.5.2 Adhesive bonding of som
10、e carpet backings to substratesand the adhesive bonding of carpet backings to a pad founda-tion,double stick or glue application,require that prior tobonding the adhesive is to be dried sufficiently to allow for notransfer of adhesive as a result of slight finger pressure.6.Apparatus6.1 Applicator T
