7、proofing.The proper applica-tion is necessary to prevent damage to the waterproofingmembrane during backfilling,paving,or other constructionoperations,as well as to minimize the effects of soil stresses.4.2 This guide is intended to supplement instructions fromdesigners and manufacturers.5.Delivery
8、of Materials5.1 Deliver materials in suppliers original containers andpackaging.6.Storage and Handling6.1 Store adhesive and mastic in tightly closed originalcontainers under conditions as recommended by the manufac-turer.6.2 Store the protection board in suppliers original pack-aging in a horizonta
9、l position to prevent deformation.Protectagainst exposure to direct sunlight,precipitation,dust,andother such contaminants.7.Materials7.1 Adhesive,when used,must be acceptable to or havebeen recommended by the waterproofing membrane manufac-turer or supplier and further must be fully compatible with
10、 themembrane and the asphalt protection board.7.2 Mastic or tape,or both,(if used on the joints)must beacceptable to or have been recommended by the waterproofingmembrane manufacturer or supplier and further be fullycompatible with the membrane and the asphalt protectionboard.8.Safety Precautions8.1
11、 Store flammable materials in a manner that will not posea fire hazard.Solvent bearing adhesives may be flammable.Donot use flammable materials near an open flame or equipmentthat may produce sparks.9.Environmental Conditions at Time of Application9.1 Environmental conditions under which installatio

15、to interfere with adhesion of theprotection board.10.2 If a flood test of the membrane is desired,this testshould be made before placing the protection course,inaccordance with Guide D5957.11.Installation11.1 Install protection board within 24 h of completing thewaterproofing membrane installation.D
