3、s point has only been evaluated for geotextilesnot geomembranes,grids,etc.Therefore,the test method isdesignated for geotextiles,not geosynthetics,as all productsmay not lend themselves to this test method for abrasion.Iflater developments indicate a wider scope for this test method,appropriate chan

8、ologies D123 and D4439.3.2 Definitions:3.2.1 abrasion,nthe wearing away of any part of amaterial by rubbing against another surface.D1233.2.2 loss in breaking force,npercent comparison ofbreaking force before and after abrasion.4.Summary of Test Method4.1 A test specimen,mounted on a stationary plat

9、form,isrubbed by an abradant with specified surface characteristics.Under controlled conditions of pressure and abrasive action,the abradant is rubbed on a horizontal axis using a uniaxionalmotion.Resistance to abrasions is expressed as a percentage oforiginal strength before abrading.5.Significance

10、 and Use5.1 This test method may be used for acceptance testing ofcommercial shipments of geotextiles,but caution is advisedsince information on the precision of the test is lacking.Comparative testing as directed in 5.1.1 may be advisable.5.1.1 In case of a dispute arising from differences inreport

11、ed test results when using this test method,the purchaserand the supplier should conduct comparative tests to determineif there is a statistical bias between their laboratories.Compe-tent statistical assistance is recommended for the investigationof bias.At a minimum,the two parties should take a gr

12、oup oftest specimens that are as homogeneous as possible and that arefrom a lot of material of the type in question.The testspecimens should then be randomly assigned in equal numbersto each laboratory for testing.The average results from the twolaboratories should be compared using Students t-test

13、forunpaired data and an acceptable probability level chosen by thetwo parties before the testing is begun.If a bias is found,eitherits cause must be found and corrected or the purchaser and thesupplier must agree to interpret future test results in light of theknown bias.5.2 The resistance of abrasi
