14、thod 4.1 The mass per unit area of pile yam above a stubble height of 1.3 mm(0.050 in.)is deter-mined for the three or more specimens. The specimens are cut from a conditioned sample and then measured or are cut from an uncondi-tioned sample and conditioned before measur-ing,so that the area of each
15、specimen after con-ditioning is measured. Each conditioned speci-men is then weighed. The specimens are then sheared to a stubble height of 1.3 mm(0.050 in.)and reweighed,The shorn pile mass is calculated by subtracting the shorn specimen mass from the unshorn specimen mass. The shorn pile mass per uni
16、t area is then calculated as the ratio of the specimen shorn pile mass to the specimen area.5,Uses and Significance 5.1 This test method provides a method for determining the mass of the shorn pile per unit area.5.2 This test method is not recommended for a referee method.5.3 The results obtained from this test method are useful for judging the compliance of ship ments with material specifications. If there is a disagreement arising from differences in values reported by the purchaser and supplie
