5、alling Clay Flue Lining3.Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 Clay,fire clay,shale,and surface clay are as defined inTerminology C896.3.1.2 chimney pota pipe used at the top of the chimney toincrease draft and carry off smoke.4.Classification4.1 TypesFlue liners acceptable under this specificationshall
6、be designated as rectangular nonmodular,rectangularmodular,round or oval.5.Materials and Manufacture5.1 Flue liners and chimney pots shall be manufacturedfrom fire clay,shale,surface clay,or a combination of thesematerials that when formed and fired to suitable temperatures,shall yield a product tha
7、t is strong,durable,serviceable,andconforms to this specification.6.Physical and Chemical Requirements6.1 Absorption:6.1.1 The absorption of clay flue liners and chimney potsshall not exceed 8.0%when tested in accordance with TestMethods C301.6.1.2 Test SpecimensFive dry test specimens shall beobtai
8、ned from the five flue liners or chimney pots to be testedand shall measure as closely as possible to 4 by 4 in.(100 by100 mm)per side.All rough edges shall be ground off andloose particles removed.6.1.3 If any of the test specimens fail to meet therequirements,the manufacturer shall be allowed to r
9、etest ontwo additional specimens for each one that failed.The flues andpots will be acceptable if all the subsequent specimens forretest meet the requirements.6.2 Acid Resistance:6.2.1 This is a test used to determine the resistance of clayflue liners and chimney pots to the action of acids encounte
10、redin chimneys.This test shall be performed only when specified.6.2.2 The flue liner and chimney pots shall be acceptable ifthe acid soluble material does not exceed 0.25%when testedin accordance with Test Methods C301.6.2.3 Test SpecimensSelect one test specimen from eachsize of flue liner or chimn
11、ey pot.The specimens shall measureabout 2 by 2 in.(51 by 51 mm)per side and weigh not morethan 200 g.They shall be sound pieces with all edges freshlybroken,free of cracks or shattered edges,and shall bethoroughly cleaned.6.3 Freeze-Thaw Cycle Test:6.3.1 When flue liners or chimney pots are tested i
12、n accor-dance with Test Methods C67,Section 9 on structural clay tile,there shall be no breakage and the percentage of weight lossshall not exceed 0.5%.6.3.2 Test SpecimensFive dry test specimens shall beobtained from the five flue liners or chimney pots to be testedand shall measure as closely as p

16、in Tables 1-4.When other sizes arerequired,flue liners that meet the requirements of Sections 5and 6 shall be cut and installed in the chimney.7.2 Variations in dimensions in Tables 1-4 shall not exceed612in.(613 mm)for outside dimensions.Permissible wallthickness variation is 618in.(63 mm)for all flue liners,except that there shall be no limit for plus variation in roundflue liners.Variations in dimensions of round flue lining shallnot exceed those shown in Table 3.The maximum difference inthe
