7、hod determines the time required forfiber-reinforced concrete to flow through an inverted slumpcone under internal vibration.4.Significance and Use4.1 This test method provides a measure of the consistencyand workability of fiber-reinforced concrete.4.2 The inverted slump-cone time is a better indic
8、ator thanslump of the appropriate level of workability for fiber-reinforced concrete placed by vibration because such concretecan exhibit very low slump due to the presence of the fibers andstill be easily consolidated.Mixtures with a time of flow lessthan 8 s,or with a slump greater than 2 in.(50 m
9、m)shall beevaluated in terms of slump because the time of flow is tooshort to determine with satisfactory precision,or may not bedeterminable because the fiber-reinforced concrete flows freelythrough the inverted cone.4.3 The results may be used for mixture proportioning,quality control both in the
10、laboratory and in the field,and indevelopment and research.4.4 The results obtained using this test method may beinfluenced by vibrator diameter,amplitude,and frequency.4.5 This test method may not be applicable to some con-cretes reinforced with fibers flexible and long enough to wraparound the vib
11、rating element and dampen vibration.5.Apparatus5.1 Cone,shall be the mold specified in Test Method C 143.5.2 BucketThe container to receive the concrete shall bethe 1-ft3(30-L)capacity bucket specified in Test MethodC 29/C 29M.5.3 Positioning DeviceA device of the type shown in Fig.1 shall be provid

16、,horizontal surface free of vibration and other disturbances.Dampen the cone and place it in the positioning device,makingsure it is level.From the sample obtained in accordance withSection 6,fill the cone in three layers,each approximately onethird of the volume of the cone.Avoid compacting theconcrete,but lightly level each layer with a scoop or trowel tominimize the entrapment of large voids.Strike off the surfaceof the top layer by means of a screeding and rolling motion ofthe tamping rod.Pr
