3、ermination of rheological(flow)properties of single-and multicomponent chemically curing sealants for use inbuilding construction.1.2 Other suitable flow characteristics may be agreed uponbetween the seller and purchaser or specifier.Special nonsagproperties and lower flow characteristics may be req
4、uired foruse in sloping joints where absolute leveling is not desired.NOTE1The sealants are supplied in various rheological propertiesranging from pourable fluids to stiff nonsagging pastes.Multicomponentsealants are supplied as a base component with an activator or curingagent separately packaged.A
5、fter mixing the multiple parts,the sealant isready for application.Single-component sealants are supplied ready foruse upon opening of the package and usually depend on the externalenvironment for cure.1.3 This test method describes four types of joint sealants:1.3.1 Type ISingle-component flowable

15、osed-end channel(Fig.1a)with methylethyl ketone or similar solvent followed by a thorough cleaningwith a detergent solution and a final rinse with distilled ordeionized water,and then air dry.8.1.2 Before preparing the test assembly,condition at least100 g of the compound under test in the unopened
16、container forat least 16 h at standard conditions.Then condition thecompound for 16 to 24 h and the channel for 2 h in arefrigerator held at 4.4 6 2C(40 6 3.6F).At the end of theconditioning periods,pour the compound into the conditionedchannel held horizontally at the latter temperature and maintainthe test specimen at this temperature for 4 h.At the end of thisperiod,examine the compound for flow properties.8.2 Tests for Type II Sealants:8.2.1 Vertical SlumpBefore preparing the test assemblies
