2、 last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 These test methods cover the apparatus,procedures,andacceptance conditions for evaluating the normal operatingperformance

3、characteristics and the performance characteris-tics under assault conditions of hinges used in swinging doorassemblies in detention and correctional institutions.Thesetypes of hinges are described in detail in 3.1.6,3.1.9,and3.1.22.Thus,these test methods only give an indication of theperformance c

4、haracteristics of hinges in actual service.Suchvariables as installation and maintenance conditions whichhave a potential impact on performance characteristics are notconsidered.1.2 It is the intent of these test methods to help ensure thatdetention hinges(reference to hinges is inclusive of a conti

5、nu-ous hinge)perform at or above minimum acceptable levels toconfine inmates,to delay and frustrate escape attempts,and toresist vandalism and assault conditions.It is recognized that inorder to meet the intent of these test methods,door,frame andlock assemblies must be compatible with the level of

6、perfor-mance required by Test Methods F1450 and F1577.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of
