8、 used.5.Significance and Use5.1 The minimum and packaged weight of a tent areproperties used by consumers to evaluate tents.The weightmay also be used for specifications,manufacturing standards,and quality control.6.Apparatus6.1 Calibrated Scale,within the weight range of the tent.7.Sampling,Test Sp
9、ecimens,and Test Units7.1 Tent test specimens shall be new and in unusedcondition,selected randomly from a production lot of a givenmodel of tent.They shall conform in all respects to themanufacturers specifications for the model to be tested.Aquantity of five tents is required.8.Calibration and Sta
10、ndardization8.1 Test equipment is to be in accordance with Practices E4and other requirements specific to the equipment.9.Conditioning9.1 Tests may be completed under ambient conditions.Incases of dispute,test samples shall be conditioned in accor-dance with 9.2.9.2 Erect and dry the tent samples in
11、 an atmosphere with arelative humidity of 10%for a minimum of 24 h;then,placethe tent samples in an atmosphere of 50 6 5%relativehumidity,20 6 2C for a minimum of 72 h.Tests may then bedone outside the conditioning room,but the temperature shallbe 23 6 5C,the tests shall begin within 5 min of remova
12、lfrom conditioning,and be completed within 4 h.10.Procedure10.1 Minimum Tent WeightPlace the tent body,rain fly(ifprovided),and poles on the calibrated scale.Record theaverage of the five tents weighed to the nearest gram.10.2 Packaged Tent WeightPlace the individual tent,com-plete with all accessor
