3、 test conditions.The formaldehyde level isdetermined by collecting air-borne formaldehyde in a smalldistilled water reservoir within a closed desiccator.The quan-tity of formaldehyde is determined by a modification of theNational Institute for Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH)3500 chromotropic a
4、cid test procedure.Other analytical pro-cedures may be used to determine formaldehyde emissionpotential provided that such methods give similar results to thechromotropic acid procedure.However,the test results and testreport must be properly qualified and the analytical procedureemployed must be no
5、ted.Procedures based on acetylacetoneand pararosaniline have been found to give similar results tochromotropic acid in other test methods used in determiningformaldehyde emission potential from wood products(see TestMethod E1333).1.2 Wood products typically evaluated by this test methodare made with
6、 urea-formaldehyde adhesives and includeparticleboard,hardwood,plywood,and medium-density fiber-board.This test method is used for product quality control andis a small bench test method that correlates with the large-scaleacceptance test for determining formaldehyde levels fromwood products,Test Me
7、thod E1333.The general desiccatortesting procedure may be modified for different conditioningtimes to accommodate its use in manufacturing quality control.However,the test results must be properly qualified and theconditioning time employed must be noted.NOTE1If modifications are made to the conditi
