3、sonic inspection and includes criteria used to defineapplicable quality levels of aluminum-alloy wrought productswhen performance of the ultrasonic test by the producer isspecified,or when ultrasonic inspection is performed by thepurchaser upon receipt.1.2 This practice is not applicable if plastic
4、deformation isintroduced into the material after delivery.1.3 The ultrasonic test described in this practice is employedto detect internal discontinuities oriented in a direction parallelto,or nearly parallel to,the surface of the product.The test isperformed either by the immersion method or the co
5、ntactmethod using pulsed longitudinal waves which are transmittedand received by a search unit containing either a single crystalor a combination of electrically interconnected multiple crys-tals.Ultrasonic tests employing either the through-transmissionor the angle-beam techniques are not included.
