5、red Chief,Materials Application Branch,Frankford Arsenal,Philadelphia,Pennsylvania,who passed away on 21 August 1980 at the age of 64 years.Tony was born in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania and re-ceived his A.B.in Chemistry from Temple University.He began his career in the federal government in 1947 at Fr

6、ankford Arsenal and retired some 30 years later in 1977.During this period,he became an international authority on corrosion and corrosion control,including such areas as high temperature oxidation,development of protective coatings systems,and environmental and accelerated cor-rosion testing.He has

7、 been granted five patents in the area of metals protection and has numerous publications in the area.In addition to his managerial and research activities,Tony was active in numerous technical societies including ASTM,ACS,AOA.Electrochemical Society,Franklin In-stitute,NACE,and Scientific Research

9、 ASTM publications while actively par-ticipating in G-1.He also was chairman of Subcommittee GO 1.07 on Galvanic Corrosion.He has held numerous of-fices in NA CE and was director ofNA CE Liberty Bell Cor-rosion Courses for over ten years.He has also chaired the following NA CE committees:T9,Corrosio

10、n of Military Equipment;T9-B8.Finishes for Magnesium;and T9-A5,Galvanic Corrosion Test Methods.He has also been ac-tive in ASMs career development and education ventures.Numerous Government committees and panels saw Tony serve as a corrosion expert.Tony was a life long resident of the Philadelphia a

11、rea.He was married to Leonora Marotto on 12 November 1938.He leaves a married daughter,Maria Shire,three sisters,Anna Marotto,Frances laricci,and Catherine Pecca and two grandchildren,Nora and John Shire.An ex-tremely energetic person,Tony found time,in addition to his work and technical society act

12、ivities,to assist young musicians in the Youth Orchestra of Philadelphia,as Pres-ident and Board Member.His hobbies included greenhouse gardening,ceramics,oil painting,classical music.Western history,as well as the piano.Anthony Gallaccio,recognized corrosion authority,de-voted husband,loving parent
